This 4 day tour begins and ends in Paracas, 4 hours south of Lima, and is the only Elongated Skull tour that exists, because you will be guided by a world expert on the subject, Brien Foerster. Visiting and flying over Nazca makes this tour complete. We can assist you in taking a high quality direct service bus from Lima upon request and arranging a hotel room for you at the San Augustin, right on the ocean.
Day 1: We get on a high speed boat and explore the amazing Ballestas Islands, about half an hour from Paracas. Here you will more sea birds and other wildlife than you have ever seen in your life. This sea journey takes about 2 hours.
Part of this ocean trip includes a stop to observe the 500 tall geoglyph called the “Candelabro” which was made by the Paracas culture more than 2000 years ago likely as a navigational device.
We then go to the Paracas History Museum, and will be able to not only observe more than 40 Paracas Elongated Skulls, but some will be taken out of their cases for closer examination, photos and videos. The museum also has a fine collection of Nazca, Wari, Chincha and Inca artifacts.
Then, we go to a rarely visited massive Paracas graveyard to explore the area and see all sorts of artifacts and other evidence of the ancient Paracas culture.
Then we return to Paracas and stay overnight in the new and luxurious ocean side San Augustin Hotel.
Day 2: Drive inland for about an hour and explore the major Inca site called Tambo Colorado, which was not only an Inca palace, but also a place where taxation was collected for those people during Inca times that were traveling between the coast of Peru and Cusco.
After lunch (optional) in a seaside restaurant in Paracas, we explore the huge and fascinating Paracas Reserve, with a muli-coloured desert landscape and breathtaking views of the open Pacific Ocean. Overnight San Augustin Hotel.
Day 3: We drive towards Nazca, stopping at the Ica Regional Museum to look at their vast collection of local ancient artifacts, including some of best examples of Elongated Skulls on the planet.
We then continue on towards Nazca, stopping at the Palpa geoglyphs, which are in fact an extension of the Nazca ones (as is the Candelabro of Paracas.)
After this we arrive at our luxury hotel, the Nuevo Cantalloc, and rest for the remainder of the day.
Day 4: We go to the Nazca airport, and fly over the Nazca lines and geoglyphs. For an extra optional 110 US you can also fly over the Palpa lines and geoglyphs as well. Then, we return to Paracas stopping at the Maria Reiche Museum which is along the way. Overnight Paracas at the San Augustin. The next day you can return to Lima, or other places. We can assist you with this process.
