Today’s coptic people are the descendants of the dynastic people of ancient Egypt, as in the Pharaohs. Though they only represent 10 percent or less of the overall population, their presence is still strong in this ancient land. Having been brutalized for about 2000 years through conquest, invasion and government oppression, they, and their Coptic churches are an important and tangible expression of the spirit of human survival.
